Light Rail for Cheviot is Cheviot Hills Homeowners advocating use of the existing “Exposition Right of Way” south of Northvale Road at the edge of our neighborhood

2.  Where are we in the Process?  Hasn’t a route already been chosen?

Having heard community concerns through Scoping Meetings (Winter 2007), a “Draft Environmental Impact Statement” (required by federal law) and  “Draft Environmental Impact Report” (required by state law) will be issued.  The draft document (together “Draft EIS/R”) should be done in about late 2008.  It will discuss all of the comments received through Scoping, and it will include traffic, safety, and environmental issues.  It will also propose mitigations, such as grade separations and station locations.  After it is released, the community will again be asked for input.

Metro will issue a Final EIR/EIS (scheduled in Fall 2009) Based on the Draft EIS/R and comments.  If construction is funded, it could begin at about the time that Expo Phase 1 opens in 2010 and be completed by about 2014-2015.
